Movie follows Mario and Luigi as they set out on a “whirlwind adventure through Mushroom Kingdom.” The brothers get separated, leaving it up to Mario to find and rescue Luigi from Bowser and save Mushroom Kingdom (with help from Princess Peach).

The animated hit held the No. 1 spot at the box office for four consecutive weeks.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was released to Prime Video in May. And audiences won’t have to wait much longer to stream it for free.
Top Gun: Maverick, for example, was released to streaming platforms roughly three months after premiering in theaters, but didn’t land on Paramount+ until later December 2022. Similarly, Avatar 2 hit streaming around three months after the theater debut, but the film wasn’t released on Disney+ until June 7. The Super Mario Bros. movie will be available on Peacock next month.
