With its huge box-office opening, Super Mario Bros. Movie surpassed Frozen as the highest grossing debut for an animated movie, and stands as the highest grossing movie of 2023 ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Avatar: The Way of Water, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Little Mermaid. The animated hit held the No. 1 spot at the box office for four consecutive weeks.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was released to Prime Video in May. And audiences won’t have to wait much longer to stream it for free.
Top Gun: Maverick, for example, was released to streaming platforms roughly three months after premiering in theaters, but didn’t land on Paramount+ until later December 2022.
