“YVV” is  an awesome artist that brings instant energy to inspire joy and ambition in even the coldest moments. “YVV”  is originally from Taiwan and now based in Berlin. 自顧自說” is a wonderful track for many reasons, not least of all the immediate fusion of nostalgia and originality that bounces through the air as you press play.

At less than four minutes long, the track bears listening to several times in a row, at which point it becomes a familiar and soothing experience, and furthermore – you gradually begin to notice and pick out more and more of these minimal yet eloquent moments that really make it special.

The simplicity of the track is in the selection of chords, the instrumentation, and the structure, yet it’s not without a distinctly complex sort of beauty. The initial meeting of the rap soundscape and the electronic vocal effect is quite striking. It pulls you in, but it does so in a very easygoing and fitting sort of way. It immediately makes sense, and it’s only when you try to analyze everything that you even realize the unusual nature of such a combination.

Alongside the rap edge and atmosphere is this featured vocal melody that really adds something fresh and alternative to the mix. The vocal delivery in this case brings softness in a way, emotional honesty that works in unison with the rap lyrics and concept but also contrasts with it in the gentle performance style and the feelings so clearly displayed. All of this takes place in a creatively structured track that has been well thought out and well produced so as to give you the full throttle audio experience you’d be hoping for when seeking out fresh lofi hip-hop.

The music builds and falls away in a very minimal manner, enough to keep things interesting. Each vocal part too, well placed and appropriately expressed as these changes occur – though not so much so that the very essence of lofi hip-hop and these overall vibes is lost. Far from it. The nostalgia is there for those who seek it, but everything else is new – the rap delivery, the lyricism, the vocal tone; the new sense of character is likely to appeal to any number of listeners. The opening piano part is also a really enjoyable addition to the mix, creative and powerful, and very memorable. Well worth checking out.
